Flock of sheep

Check out these cute guys who arrived at the shop this week! Sidney the Sheep is hand made in Peru and would love to keep you company in your knitting space.
Some new bags arrived this week. These clear, colorful mesh bags are from Walker and we have them in a variety of styles and sizes.
We also received the new RunRunRun bags made from recycled plastic. They are featured in the Fall 2012 issue of Interweave Knits. We have two sizes and both are expandable and can fold up into a compact pouch.
And speaking of Interweave, we have the new Crochet Traditions magazine in stock as well as the new book by Ann Budd, The Knitter's Handy Book of Top Down Sweaters.

Classic Elite Yarns sent us lots of new colors of the ever popular Liberty Wool Print yarn and three new pattern books for knitting accessories as well as clothing for babies and for children using Liberty Print.
We also received their beautiful Vail yarn, a light fingering weight made with baby alpaca and bamboo viscose. It is so soft with a delicate luster and drape. The corresponding pattern book, Ebony & Ivory, is in stock at the shop.

A little reorganization

We've reshuffled our yarn areas a bit this week and added more shelving to accommodate the new yarns that will be arriving each day.
Sit and knit area has been relocated
The long awaited order of Madelinetosh DK and Madelinetosh Sock arrived and to show off all of our lovely sock yarns, we decorated the walls with them!
A new shipment of Koigu sock yarn is expected to arrive this Friday!
A shipment from Berroco arrived with some new yarns for us including Borealis, Boboli Quick, and Lustra. We've replenished the Boboli and the Flicker.

Borealis and Boboli Quick are lovely chunky weight yarns great for hats, scarves and thick mittens.
We have some new fancy scarf yarns!

Calm before the storm

We are expecting our fall yarn orders to start arriving this week! In preparation, we've been rearranging the shop and adding more shelf space. We are always excited when the boxes of new yarns are delivered. It really is like Christmas in July! Check this blog each week to see what's new.

A few new items trickled in last week. Those of you who love yarns that change fiber and texture as you knit will be interested in Feza Yarn's Alp Oriental. This big ball of yarn quickly knits up into a stunning scarf. Debbie knit up the shop model in one night! The fringe is already cut for you and gives you an idea of the different types of yarn in the ball.
We've received some cool new shawl pins by Bonnie Bishoff.
New reuseable Flip and Tumble bags. We have two sizes!
We've restocked those really cute mugs by Herdy.
And we've gotten in more Pagewood Farms Swagger yarn, a lovely hand-dyed chunky weight, that we've used to make the unique Comet Tail scarf, great for a quick knit and a fun gift!
Classes that have openings in the next two weeks include Tunisian Crochet Basics, Knit in the Round Hat, Socks 101, Basic Beginner for knitting, Tunisian Crochet Entrelac, My First Lace Shawl, Tunisian Crochet Basketweave Tote, and Advanced Beginner for knitting.

Stop by and see what's new or escape the heat and sit and knit or crochet awhile!

Fall is coming (believe it or not!)

As the year slips into its second half, the yarns that we ordered for fall from our reps and from Yarn Market have begun to trickle into the shop. Most of what we are expecting will arrive in earnest during the latter half of July and in August (and as new yarns come in, some older yarns head to the sale bin to make room!)

Last week we received TUTTO-Isagers's new Plant Fiber yarn, a sportweight yarn made with ramie, bamboo and hemp for your nonwooly summer knitting.

For those of you who love Habu, we've stocked two new yarns, Wrapped Silk and Wrapped Merino.

We've stocked some new specialty yarns, Trendsetter Eyelash and Lincatex Goldrush from Plymouth to carry along for fun and sparkle!

And we have some of Plymouth's DyeforMe yarns in DK, fingering, and laceweights. These cream colored yarns are a blank canvas for you to add your own color using your favorite dying method.
We also received new stock of some of your old favorites from Plymouth: Baby Alpaca Grande and Worsted, Coffee Beanz and some fun new colors of Jelli Beanz.

Classes with spaces available the next two weeks include Basic Beginner, Rigid Heddle Weaving, Tunisian Basics, Advanced Beginner, Socks 101, and Tunisian Entrelac scarf. Click the calendar link for class dates and times.
Stop by the Sit and Knit table to see and play with some of the yarns and special items we will be receiving over the next few weeks!
