Market Weekend Sale

The semi-annual TNNA Market is taking place in Washington, DC this weekend and while we will not be attending, we've been meeting with yarn company reps and choosing yarn for the upcoming season. As we begin our long transition to cooler weather, we've selected a few yarns to mark down; we'll also have some non-advertised surprises in store for people who visit the shop Friday and Saturday, June 10-11th. Keep reading for details and descriptions!

At 20% off, we have Filatura Di Crosa Tempo (cotton/acrylic/nylon) and it's great for knitting or weaving. The most popular pattern for this yarn has been the Lido Scarf/Shawl, which you can purchase at Twisted Yarns. (Check out Debbie's and Susan's on Ravelry).

At 30% off, we have Noro Taiyo Sport (cotton/silk/wool/nylon), and with just three skeins, you can knit the ever-popular Churchmouse Yarns Easy Folded Poncho

June 2016 Sunday KAL - Oasis, Mirage

The Sunday afternoon group will be knitting Oasis / Mirage this month. It's a versatile poncho style that's knit as a rectangle with minimal seaming. This is a flattering style for a variety of shapes and sizes and can be knit with fingering weight yarn or DK-weight yarn.

The DK weight version is "Mirage" and calls for 575-790 yards of DK weight yarn.

Yarn recommendations - Louet Euroflax,, Shibui Twig, Shibui Linen+Cima
The fingering weight version is "Oasis" and calls for 505-662 yards of a light fingering weight yarn

Yarn recommendations: DanDoh Cotton Fine (doubled), Shibu Linen, Louet Euroflax, Bio Bimbo
We'll be meeting three times in June and if you'd like to join the KAL, we'd love to have you! The cost to join is $30 and you'll receive the pattern free* as well as a 10% discount on the yarn you choose for the project. Deadline to sign up is Saturday, June 4.

Details:

The June KAL will meet on the following days:

What to expect from our Sunday Shawl KALs:
  • Expect to learn a lot through hands-on instruction from the KAL - you will be challenged to learn new skills!
  • Expect to have fun! While we're learning, we're also helping one another and socializing.
  • Expect support before, during, and after the KAL - you will have opportunities through our Ravelry group to ask questions until you finish your project.
  • Expect that because the group is popular and we like to say YES if you want to join us, that there might be several knitters in the KAL! If you would prefer one-on-one time, we can schedule that for you.
  • Expect extras - special discounts for participants, one-off workshops like how to block your knits, and other fun treats.
*We choose patterns that are available through the Ravelry in-store program. This means we purchase the pattern on your behalf. It's sent to you as a PDF via email and will be saved in YOUR Ravelry library. We do NOT buy the pattern and make photocopies -- your very own pattern copy should arrive in your email, and in some cases will have your name printed on it. A modest printing fee will apply if you'd like a printed color copy of the pattern.

Shibui Rain - New Yarn & Patterns

Spectrum
Free Pattern with Purchase (Wrap and Scarf)

Shibui Knits - Rain - 100% Mercerized Cotton in a DK-weight. This is an ideal cotton for our part of Texas and it pairs beautifully with Silk Cloud to create a stunning scarf or wrap. Twisted Yarns has most of the colors in stock as well as hard copies of the patterns for Nova, Meridian, and Equinox. All of the Shibui patterns in the SS2016 collection are available for in-store purchase at the shop, and when you visit, you can check out our updated Shibui yarn display at the front of the shop.

We also now stock Twig -- a new favorite that we discovered at our Shibui Mix Party in November. The simplicity of the Slope curved hem tank is an appealing possibility for a summer knit or as a layering piece year round.

NOTE: Some of our February classes still have openings! If you're interested in a class or project help, please call during business hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 10-5) to sign up or leave a voicemail (281-528-8664) and we'll call you back.

September 2015 Calendar and Highlights

We have so many exciting things going on in September. Here's the calendar for the month, but it doesn't tell the whole story -- we will be adding events and knit-alongs throughout September and October, so please follow our Facebook and the blog. We've had a lot of groups interested in working on specific patterns, skills, and techniques. If you've been here during the week, you've noticed how busy the community knitting table is!

For the next two weeks we will have a Shibui Trunk show that includes PebbleCimaLinen, and new-to-us Silk Cloud. Two of the scarf patterns are free with yarn purchase: Multigrain & Strata

Please stop by for inspiration and ideas for how to use the yarn you already have in your stash. We're here before and after the sale and love to see what you're working on. Join us to sit and knit any time we're open, or just pop in and say hello!
